Glacier Technology offers high quality, long lasting cartridge filters from several quality manufacturers. These filters will fit into any cartridge style dust collector for improved efficiency and performance. Our cartridge filers are ideal for use in equipment from brands including: Farr, Donaldson Torit, UAS, MAC, A.C.T., Aercology, Smog Hog, Micro-Air, AirFlow, Air Quality Engineering, RoboVent, Plymovent, Trion, and more.
Glacier Technology is an authorized distributor of Imperial Systems DELTAMAXX filters. The DeltaMAXX Cartridge Filter delivers the longest filter life, cleanest air, and the greatest cost savings in the market today.
When you look at a filter under a microscope you will see strands of media weaving together and open spaces between the strands. Shown on the left below.
Nanofibers are super small (1/100th of a micron) strands applied to the top of conventional filter media. When you look at a nanofilter under a microscope it looks like this. Shown on the right below.
When applied to traditional filters nanofibers reduce the pore size of the traditional media and provide more even pore size distribution. The tiny openings are capable of filtering submicron sized particles. And the even distribution promotes surface load which allows the particles to be more easily removed during pulse cleaning. In contrast non-nanofilters can have pore sizes of up to 40 microns and particulate is more likely to become embedded within the filter media making it more difficult to dislodge the particles from the filter; decreasing filter life and increasing pressure drop.
The promotion of surface loading has many benefits including extended filter life, lowered emissions, reduced compressed air usage, and extended low filter pressure drop resulting in reduced electrical costs.
In addition to the surface loading and dust cake release advantages of the nanotechnology, the other important benefit is the exceptionally high initial filter efficiency commonly referred to as a filter's MERV rating.
MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value. It is an ASHRAE (The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) method of rating filters based on their initial efficiency. The higher the MERV rating (ranging from 1 to 20) the better the filter is at removing small particles from the air.
Imperial DeltaMaxx Filters achieve a MERV 15 rating which is the highest rating for a pleated cartridge filter in the industrial dust collection industry.
Independent ASHRAE tests verify DeltaMaxx filters outperform other vertical cartridge filter manufacturers by significant margin. Test results can be seen below.
DeltaMaxx Filters rate MERV 15 meaning they are at least 85% efficient at capturing particles at 0.3 micron in size. Efficiency jumps to 99.9% at particles 0.5 Micron in size. MERV 15 filters clean the air so well that they are acceptable for use in hospital inpatient care applications.
By contrast other vertical filter manufacturers only achieved a MERV 9 rating which cannot even be rated on the submicron level and are less than 50% efficient on particles up to 3 microns in size.
This is why the average mass emissions using a DeltaMaxx filter is 97% lower than other manufactures.
As this relates to Glacier's welding fume customers, welding fume is typically 0.3 to 0.7 microns in size easily removed from the air by a MERV 15 DeltaMaxx filter. Also the DeltaMaxx filter will yield a discharge of 0.253 micrograms per cubic meter. This is well within the OSHA requirement of 5 micrograms per cubic meter for welding on stainless steel and the generation of hexavalent chromium (CrVI). The use of the DeltaMaxx filter makes it possible to remove HexChrom from the air without the use of secondary HEPA filters, lowering the initial and ongoing costs of weld fume filtration systems.
